Frequently Asked Questions

  • Established in 2014, the DCRM honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and highlights the contributions of Black people both locally and nationally. Our motto is: "If you are going to learn the lessons of history, you have to know history."

  • The museum is open on Tuesdays from 10am-4pm and by appointments. Tuesdays are typically our most active days for individuals or small groups to visit.

  • General admission is $10.00 for adults. However, we believe history and inspiration should be accessible to everyone—so admission is only $3.00 for students aged 12 and under, and completely free for local youth groups! For larger groups of 20 or more, it is $4.00 per student (teachers and chaperones are free).

  • We are located at 2922 MLK Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75215, inside Building A of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. You can find us in Suites #100 and #118, situated right next to the library.

  • It’s easy to reach us! You can take the DART train to the MLK, Jr. Station, or use the #26 bus line which stops right by the community center.

  • You will experience a powerful collection of artifacts, books, oral histories, and spoken word pieces. Tours walk you through major milestones including the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the Trail of Tears, Black Wall Street, and the Civil Rights Movement.

  • It depends on the age group! For 1st through 6th grades, tours run about 30 to 45 minutes. For junior high students through adults, tours are a deeper 90-minute experience. Most groups also add an extra 30 minutes for hands-on activities.

  • You can easily schedule a tour by calling the museum directly at (214) 769-0981 or (214) 670-8418.
