Welcome to the official website of the Dallas Civil Rights Museum. Our mission is to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by educating, inspiring, and bringing our community together. Located in the historical South Dallas Fair Park community, the museum serves as a cultural hub where visitors can learn about history, explore upcoming events, and stay connected with everything happening at the museum.
PURPOSE
The Dallas Civil Rights Museum presents an interpretive overview of the national Civil Rights movement with rigorous scholarship, contextual clarity, and a commitment to civic education. Exhibits and programs are organized around three guiding principles: historical accuracy, civic empathy, and active remembrance.
Preserve and interpret primary sources that document local, state, and national civil rights struggles from Reconstruction through contemporary movements.
lluminate the legal, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of racial justice efforts, emphasizing connections between local Dallas history and broader national trends.
